Learning Together: Mental Health Training with NAMI Minnesota’s Kay King

Friends & Co staff recently gathered for a two-hour learning session focused on mental health awareness and understanding. The training, “Mental Illness Basics: Hope with Facts,” was presented by Kay King, retired community educator with NAMI Minnesota and a Friends & Co board member.

King shared an overview of common mental health conditions and symptoms, while emphasizing an important message: mental illnesses are treatable conditions and recovery is possible. Drawing from her years of work with NAMI Minnesota, she also shared stories and insights that helped bring the information to life.

The session focused on building awareness and understanding of mental health, helping staff better recognize how these challenges can affect individuals and communities.
