Cheryl was born and raised in North Minneapolis and lived in several suburbs before settling in New Hope, where she has lived for the past decade. She is the eldest of five siblings and, though they are scattered, she enjoys reconnecting when possible. Cheryl is naturally very talkative, full of energy, and quick to share a story. She has a special love for children and was devoted to her own.
After graduating from North High, Cheryl married William shortly before turning 20. Together, they had two children, Greg and Gwen. When William abandoned the family, Cheryl embraced single motherhood with love and determination. She cherished being a Mom, creating daily rituals of hugs and kisses, and showering her children with affection. Tragedy struck when Greg took his own life at 21, followed less than a year later by Gwen at just 19, following her beloved brother in death. Utterly devastated, Cheryl leaned on her faith, family, friends, and sheer inner strength to carry on.
Cheryl later found joy and comfort in a 25-year partnership with Bishy, whose support helped her heal and reconnect with the world. His death six years ago was another profound loss, but she continues to feel his presence, just as she does with her children.
Despite her hardships, Cheryl radiates a contagious joy. She loves music—Motown, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson (with whom she once struck up a Facebook friendship). She’s also a movie buff, especially mysteries. At home, she enjoys conversation, laughter, and reminiscing, but she would also love to get out occasionally for a meal.
Cheryl welcomes companionship with someone genuinely interested in friendship and sharing stories. She uses a cane or walker when needed, but is steady at home. A non-smoker with no pets, Cheryl is warm, vibrant, and always ready for a good chat.
