Emme is someone who brings joy and fun to every space she enters. Although she has been a volunteer at Friends & Co for only a couple of months, she has already made a meaningful impact across many areas of our organization. She answers calls weekly on our Coffee Talk line, helps create and mail cards for Cards Connect, and contributes to the welcoming, friendly atmosphere at our Let’s Do Lunch gatherings. We are so grateful for Emme, and for all our volunteers, who help make our community more connected!
What inspires you to volunteer?
I believe everyone wants to be seen and heard. Volunteering is a privilege that allows me to share my time, creativity, and love of connecting with people. Whether I am chatting on the phones, crocheting for infants in the community, making shawls for the cancer center, or upcycling well-loved books into greeting cards, I hope to create small moments of comfort and connection. Those simple acts of care truly fill my cup.
What do you enjoy about Friends & Co?
I love using my gift of gab on the phones and my creativity to upcycle well-loved books into greeting cards for people who enjoy receiving mail.
What is a memorable moment that reflects the connections you’ve made?
I’ve made so many meaningful connections through Coffee Connect and the “Let’s Do Lunch” events. Meeting such friendly people, both on the phones and in person, has created lasting memories and truly fills my cup.
