Friends & Co Announces Leadership Transition

A statement from the Friends & Co Board of Directors

Dear Friends & Co Community,

On behalf of the Friends & Co Board of Directors, today we are announcing that our Executive Director, James Falvey, will be stepping down on November 2, 2026.

Over the past 11 years, James has helped Friends & Co navigate notable challenges, meaningful growth, and important milestones that shaped the organization into what it is today. During his tenure, Friends & Co:

  • Successfully guided a rebranding from Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly Twin Cities to establish the renewed Friends & Co identity.
  • Developed programs designed to serve LGBTQ+ and Latine communities.
  • Catalyzed by the global pandemic, Friends & Co introduced new and expanded programs statewide.

Reflecting on his tenure, James shared that he is “deeply grateful for the opportunity of a lifetime: leading an extraordinary staff and board while helping transform an organization on the verge of dissolution into one that is vibrant and thriving.”

The Board of Directors extends its sincere appreciation to James for his years of service, leadership, and dedication to the Friends & Co mission. His contributions have shaped our organization and established a strong foundation for long-term success.

As we look ahead, our commitment to the Friends & Co mission remains resolute. The Board and staff are committed to ensuring a thoughtful and smooth transition as we maintain vital programs, services, and relationships our communities rely on.

The Board will work closely with our incredible staff and community partners throughout this journey. An interim Executive Director and a recruitment partner will be announced to support the organization as we begin the search for our next Executive Director. We have full confidence in the Friends & Co team and know they will continue to advance our mission during this transition.

We would like to share our gratitude for the continued support of our volunteers, donors, and partners. Together, we will continue our celebration of aging through community-led service and fostering meaningful connections for everyone.

If you have any questions during this transition, please reach out to Hailey Bailey at hbailey@aclu-mn.org.

Sincerely,
Dominic Korbel
President, Board of Directors
